If Alfred Lord Tennyson was alive today, the English poet might rhapsodize that in spring a homeowner’s fancy turns to mowing the lawn. That’s especially true in Pennsylvania, which, according to ...I haven’t planted a meadow but have fields of goldenrods, asters, Ironweed and much more. I quit cutting lawn in a area several years ago. Last year a woodcock decided to lay her eggs there. I was walking through on a path and there she was. The eggs hatched I found them later. Turkeys, fox, have returned after being gone for years. I planted 150 native trees, shrubs and plants. Red Admiral were on the pussywillow blooms yesterday along with every size of bees. I could go on and on. I have 10 acres surrounded by different neighbors 200 more acres. I’m 68 and started this 4 years ago when I retired. This is so much more worth it than a lawn, which I still have too much for me. It is work with the invasive stuff, but I like to work and will do so as long as I can.
We are very eager to see our lawn when it takes off growing, I have zero patience!

How did you spend your first day of Spring (although feeling more like February)? Our season kicked off creating a 1/2 mile mountain bike trail in Union Co. A great way for the team to get back into installation season while reconnecting with nature.
