Yesterday, the team began installation of the new outdoor classroom at East Berwick Elementary School. K-4 students got involved in this project by helping the crew to install perennials, mulch, and seed the wildflower area. 🌼![]()
This is part of a collaborative project with King’s College, Scapes Designs, Applied Ecoscience Inc., and the BASD Facilities team. This project will include a mud-less kitchen, musical garden, sensory plant garden, outdoor classroom area, and much more.![]()
This outdoor learning space will serve the students and staff of BASD with the opportunity for hands-on learning and environmental education.![]()

🌳 2 acres pollinator meadow, 1.5 acres tree/shrub establishment ![]()
This project was proposed by Native Creations to reduce turf/mowing demands and create an outdoor learning space. This space is multifunctional, and also serves as a means of managing stormwater and runoff. This allows the Berwick Borough to apply this area toward MS4 requirements. ![]()
This project invoked much attention—both good and bad— with many remarks from those who opposed the “messy” appearance of native plants. ![]()
Ultimately, the Orange Street project helped us build connections with school facilities and within the community. This project has had many impacts, leading to 50+ acres of local meadows being planted. ![]()
Every project presents an opportunity to connect community with nature.🌿
